The Adult Horse Management Record of Training Card has been developed to ably and safely assist riders in the basic are and daily tasks of keeping horses, and exceed the minimum requirements for horse welfare.
This Record of Training card should be kept at the Pony Club so it is available to be signed off at each working rally or certificate coaching lesson.
PURPOSE:
- This card has been developed for adults and caregivers of new pony club members that are not familiar with the needs and requirements of caring for horses to be able to meet the basic welfare needs of horses in a safe manner to support their rider
OBJECTIVE:
- To ably and safely assist riders in the basic care and daily tasks of keeping horses, and exceed the minimum requirements for horse welfare
INTRODUCTION:
- This card has been developed for the Head Coach to take adults and caregivers through the main points of horse care and management to promote safety and effectiveness. It has been designed to be used alongside NZPCA Manuals 1 and 2. The sections have been arranged into increasing difficulty, but can be worked through in any order.
ASSESSMENT:
- There is no formal assessment for the Adult / Caregiver Horse Management cards. Evidence of competency can be collected in the rally setting, alongside riders; in observation of practical aspects in real time or discussion to demonstrate theoretical aspects. Skills are signed off by the Head Coach
